Solaksen Vineyard is in the Royal Slope AVA in the Columbia Valley of Washington State, atop the Frenchman Hills. “Solaksen” is a Norwegian-inspired term for “off axis to the sun,” and the vines here are planted in 7’ by 3’ spacing in an off-axis direction.

The elevation at Solaksen is approximately 1,400 feet and the farming is sustainable. This particular part of Lawrence Vineyards is notable for its variety of south-facing slope angles. There are currently 100 acres, which were planted from 2013 to present and future plantings of up to 240 acres are planned. Soils are Adkins very fine sandy loam and Taunton fine sandy loam.

A variety of clones planted here include Cabernet Sauvignon Clones 214 and 327 and Syrah Joseph Phelps clones.
