2020Members Reserve Solaksen Chardonnay
This single vineyard 2020 Jaine Chardonnay was crafted from Solaksen in the Royal Slope AVA. The vineyard is fully sustainable and uses organic farming methods whenever possible. The vineyards were hand-harvested early in the morning throughout September. Upon arriving at the winery, the vineyard lot was hand-sorted and whole-cluster pressed. The wine was aged for 22 months in both new (50%) and used (50%) French oak barrels. Bottling took place in August of 2022 with only 93 cases produced.
The 2020 Jaine ‘Members Reserve’ Solaksen Vineyard Chardonnay shows white gold or pale dandelion in the glass and elicits aromas of nutmeg, vanilla bean and green apple. On the palate, this rich-bodied wine shows custard, lemon verbena and key lime. A long, warm, orchard-floor finish with plush oak shows a silky texture layered with crisp acidity.

Solaksen Vineyard is in the Royal Slope AVA in the Columbia Valley of Washington State, atop the Frenchman Hills. “Solaksen” is a Norwegian-inspired term for “off axis to the sun,” and the vines here are planted in 7’ by 3’ spacing in an off-axis direction.
