$24/Bottle | Acquire

2021Evergreen Sauvignon Blanc

100% Sauvignon Blanc. Crafted from the Evergreen Vineyard in the Ancient Lakes AVA. Evergreen is a sustainably farmed high-elevation vineyard with varied soil types, which contribute complexity to the wine. It was harvested early in the mornings of September 9th and September 16th. Upon arrival at the winery, the Sauvignon Blanc was pressed, fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel to focus on the purity of fruit. After seven months of aging, the wine was bottled on March 28th, 2021. Only 3,400 cases were produced.

Tasting Notes

"The 2021 Jaine Evergreen Sauvignon Blanc shows pale yellow with silver undertones in the glass. Aromas of lemon grass, pineapple and thyme are enhanced by plenty of freshness and purity of fruit. Bright citrus and mineral flavors, while delicate on the palate, showcasing floral notes and steely tension. Finish is medium in length with mouthwatering acidity." - Ali Mayfield, Winemaker

Awards & Accolades

"A crunchy and crisp white with notes of lime zest, green apples, oyster shells and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied and pleasantly green-fruited. Drink now."

"The outstanding 2021 Jaine ‘Evergreen Vineyard’ Sauvignon Blanc offers salted gooseberry and orange blossom flavors alongside unripe cantaloupe and stony minerals on the palate. Round and generous on the mouth, with good tension, this is very hard to put down. Delicious now, this is seriously good stuff to enjoy over the next five plus years. Drink 2022-2027."

JAINE MAP VINEYARD EVERGREEN

Jerry and Butch Milbrandt began planting Evergreen Vineyard in 1997 near George, Washington in the Ancient Lakes AVA. Originally 425 acres had been planted, but it has increased to 1,200 acres in more recent years. Proximity to the Columbia River makes this an ideal location to grow white grape varieties, such as Riesling and Chardonnay. Plantings here also include Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Albariño. The site sits above the Ancient Lake Coulee which was one of three 'drains' for water backed up in the Quincy Valley winding to the river. All topsoils were stripped clean off of the bedrock. Soils include caliche, whose high calcium carbonate content contributes minerality to the wines produced from this site, as well as silt loam and basalt.
