It is named for Laura Lee Lawrence, who raised her family there. This sustainably farmed 62-acre site near Royal City was planted from 2008-2014 to Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Slightly lower in elevation at 935-1135 feet with fine sand and loamy soils, row spacing is 8’ by 4’.

Laura Lee Vineyard is situated in the Royal Slope AVA of the Columbia Valley. The Royal Slope is a south-facing, magnificent slope in eastern Washington that was reportedly named by a pair of Scotsmen who climbed the Saddle Mountains and remarked on the slope’s majesty. In this part of the Columbia Valley, the cataclysmic Missoula Floods actually swirled below the elevation of these sites, making the soil series quite unique and relatively untouched.

Laura Lee is one of fourteen distinct vineyard sites either owned or co-owned by the Lawrence family. Laura Lee Lawrence raised her family on this very location, which today is a sustainably farmed 62-acre site. The Lawrence family prides itself on clonal selection, with Chardonnay clone 108 and Sauvignon Blanc Gist clone – matched to the soils and aspect of this site between 2008 and 2014. The vineyard sits at slightly lower elevation (935-1135) than their other vineyards and the soils are fine sand and loam. The row spacing is 8’ by 4’.
